A custom enclosure for your board, printed or laser cut

pulpCase works out the enclosure around your circuit board, prepares laser engraving and cutting, and drives your GRBL engraver, all in your browser.

What you can do with pulpCase

Who is it for?

pulpCase is for makers, fablabs, schools and small workshops who want to house a circuit board without learning a full CAD package. A few settings give you a printable enclosure or a plywood box ready to cut.

It is also online laser cutting software for GRBL-based engravers: prepare your job, simulate it, then send it to the machine from Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Your files

Projects are saved as .pcase files, in your browser and on your disk if you wish. pulpCase opens .pboard boards from pulpCircuit, SVGs and PNG, JPEG, WebP or BMP images to engrave. It exports STL and 3MF for 3D printing (to run through your slicer), SVG, DXF and GRBL G-code for the laser, and .penclosure files for pulpRobot. It does not import STL, STEP or DXF models for editing.

File types recognised by pulpCase:

  • .pcase
  • .pboard

Frequently asked questions

Does pulpCase replace CAD software?

No. It designs parametric enclosures (a box and its lid) very quickly, but it does not model arbitrary shapes. For a complex part, use CAD software and keep pulpCase for housing your boards.

Can I drive my laser engraver from the browser?

Yes, if it uses a GRBL controller and you work in Chrome or Edge on a computer. Other controllers are not supported. Without a compatible machine, the simulated machine lets you try everything and you can export the G-code.

Does it produce G-code for my 3D printer?

No. pulpCase exports the parts as STL or 3MF; your usual slicer then produces the printer's G-code.

Is laser cutting safe?

No: radiation, fire and fumes are real risks. pulpCase requires a safety checklist before each job and caps framing at low power, but you must wear suitable goggles, ventilate and stay close to the machine.
