What you can do with pulpAssist
- Call it up anywhere. Ctrl+J opens the assistant on top of any pulpSuite app, with suggestions that fit what you're doing.
- Summarize and explain. A document, an email, a page of notes, a selection of cells or a project's progress, in a few lines.
- Write in the document. An introduction in pulpDoc, speaker notes in pulpSlide, a list of next steps in pulpNote.
- Work in a spreadsheet. Read and write cells, add a summary sheet or a pivot table in pulpSheet.
- Prepare your replies. A reply draft to the open email, or a task or event taken from the message. No email is ever sent automatically.
- Approve every action. Each change first appears in a card you accept or decline, and can be undone afterwards.
- See what goes out. The context attached to each question can be inspected, and you choose whether the assistant reads only the open app or the whole suite.
- Summarize a meeting. From a pulpCrew meeting transcript: summary, decisions, actions and owners.
Who is it for?
pulpAssist is for people already using pulpSuite apps who want to save time on repetitive work: going through a long email, roughing out a text, filling in a table, turning notes into minutes. It acts directly in the open document, instead of making you copy and paste between a chat window and your files.
pulpAssist comes with pulpSuite, but the AI itself goes through a gateway that your installation's administrator configures: an online AI service, or an AI installed on your own network so nothing leaves your premises. Without that gateway, a local mode understands a few quick commands with no AI: add a sticky note, open an app, see today's schedule.
Your files
pulpAssist doesn't open files itself: it works on what the other apps show it, in their own formats. It doesn't read your disk. The pulpNote credential vault and your email passwords are never passed to it. Your conversations are stored in the browser, on this device only.
pulpAssist does not read files: it works on the documents you have open in the suite. Format details and known limitations
Frequently asked questions
Is pulpAssist an alternative to Copilot or Gemini?
It plays a similar role in pulpSuite: it reads your open documents and acts in the apps. What it can do depends on the AI service your administrator has connected to the gateway.
Are my documents sent to an AI service?
Only what your question needs: the question, the conversation and a snapshot of what's open, sent to the service your administrator chose. With an AI installed on your own network, nothing leaves your premises. The Before you start screen sets all this out before you first use it.
Can the assistant change my files without asking?
No. Reading needs no approval, but every change appears in a Proposed action card: nothing changes until you accept, and the action can be undone.
Can I trust its answers?
Always review them. An AI can get a figure, a formula or a name wrong. Never rely on it alone for a medical, legal, financial or safety decision.
Does it work offline?
Local mode does. AI answers need the gateway and the AI service; with an AI installed on your local network, no internet connection is needed.
