What you can do with pulpPhoto
- Open a PSD file online. Layers, groups, masks, blend modes, editable text and most adjustment layers are kept; a message tells you what had to be converted.
- Develop your RAW photos. White balance, exposure, curves, colour mixer, lens corrections, automatic masks, HDR and panorama merges, for the main camera brands.
- Organise your photo library. Ratings, flags, labels, keywords, smart collections, a map with GPX tracks, contact sheet printing and batch export with watermarks.
- Remove the background from a photo. One-click subject cutout with an editable mask and hair refinement.
- Erase, restore, upscale. Object removal, face restoration, colorizing old photos, noise reduction and ×2 or ×4 upscaling.
- Sort with AI. Sharpness, closed eyes, bursts, duplicates, best shots and plain-language search across your whole library.
Who is it for?
Amateur and professional photographers who want to develop RAW files, sort thousands of photos and keep their settings in XMP files other software can read. If you are looking to replace Lightroom, pulpPhoto imports your .lrcat catalog with its ratings, keywords, collections and develop settings.
Designers, shop owners and community groups who receive Photoshop or GIMP files, prepare images for the web or cut out product photos, without installing any software.
Your files
pulpPhoto opens and saves Photoshop (.psd, .psb), GIMP (.xcf) and its own .pphoto format, as well as JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF and BMP. PSD files are saved as 8-bit RGB, and some elements (smart objects, shapes) are written as pixels. RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax, Samsung, Phase One and DNG are developed; a few recent compression formats (C-RAW, NEF “HE”) are not decoded yet, in which case only the camera's preview can be edited. HEIC is only read in Safari.

Frequently asked questions
Can pulpPhoto replace Photoshop?
For everyday retouching, cutouts, adjustment layers, text and web export, yes. Complex PSD files open, but some elements are converted or lost (older layer styles, vector shapes, editable smart objects) and files are saved in 8-bit.
Can I replace Lightroom with it?
pulpPhoto follows the Lightroom workflow: library, develop, map, print, export. Your .lrcat catalog is imported read-only; Lightroom's local masks are not applied.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Photos, the catalog and AI processing stay on your device. AI models are downloaded once, with your consent. Only the optional generative fill, if you install a relay to your own generation server, sends the selected area to that server.
Do I need a powerful computer?
A recent browser with WebGL 2 is enough for editing and developing. AI features run faster with a recent graphics card.
